Instructions

How the Feuertube works

From first assembly to cleaning: everything you need to know for an evening by the fire – summarised from the operating instructions.

2. Fill with pellets
3. Light

1. Assemble

The Feuertube consists of three parts: main body, glass tube and hat. Insert the glass tube through the round ring into the holder on the main body and place the hat on top. Fireproof sealing cords on the body and hat stop the glass from touching the metal.

2. Fill with pellets

Before filling, take the grate out of its slot and check that the openings are clear. Put it back and pour the pellets into the tank through the lid at the top. It holds 3 kg – enough for around two hours on average.

3. Light

Turn the small ring at the bottom of the glass until the opening is clear, then light through it with the supplied torch for 20–30 seconds. It is enough for a few pellets in the combustion chamber to catch: after about 20 minutes this fire ignites the remaining pellets and the flame grows.

4. Adjust the flame

There is a ventilation grille at the back of the main body. When it is open, the flame rises to the hat. When it is closed, it drops to about half height. Above the grille is the combustion chamber grate on which the pellets burn.

5. Top up

You can top up as often as you like while it is burning. If you wait until the fire has almost gone out, smoke may form because the embers are covered – 10 seconds with the torch will then do.

6. Empty the ash

The ash falls into the drawer at the front. Very little ash is produced; emptying every 5–6 hours is enough. If the flame drops while burning, move the grate left and right a few times by its handle without pulling it out – the ash falls through and the flame rises again.

Safety

The Feuertube is a real fire in a glass tube – with a little care the evening stays relaxed. The key points from the operating instructions:

  • Use outdoors only – not under a roof and not on covered balconies.
  • Keep clear of flammable materials and do not leave the fire unattended.
  • Apply the castor brake before lighting.
  • Do not pull out the grate while there are pellets in the unit.
  • Only touch and clean the glass tube once it is cold.
